What's happening to poetry? Happened to poetry? My husband and I went to a poetry reading the other day. The theme was LOVE. We were both kinda excited. I was even thinking about droppin a line or two myself. Long story short, we walked out. Not one thought provoking poem. Not one poem on love, not one! It was about sex, infidelity, and violence. I mean one guy just got up and well he was sad. He talked about his love for a girl who stabbed him TWICE!!! He beat her up & got arrested. Don't get me wrong, to each his own. I was disappointed personally. Another guy just got up and said anything that rhymed with black for 2 mins- black cat, black hat, black this, black that...I was patient. I was hoping it had something to do with love. I would have been satisfied if it was something conscious, but it wasn't...What's happened to poetry and LOVE for that matter...any thoughts?
